Musical Director

Sue McPhail

Sue McPhail (Dip ABRSM in Vocal Teaching) is a freelance singing and music teacher based in South Queensferry. As well as Ferry Blend, she runs a children's group, Ferry Finches, for primary aged children and the Friday Singers for young people.

Through the National Youth Choir of Scotland she has trained in Kodaly-based methodology. She teaches musicianship for the NYCOS Edinburgh Regional Choir and is a tutor with their YMI-funded outreach program to Edinburgh primary schools at P3 level.

The idea for Ferry Blend began with a series of singing workshops starting in December 2007. The group began to meet regularly and grew into a community choir.

Sue has been involved in choirs since joining her mother's children's choir at their local church, including school, university, semi-professional, renaissance, small, large, folk and electro-pop groups. She believes everyone should have the opportunity to sing, and that singing has huge benefits at every age.
